Fake it till you make it!

Fake it till you BECOME IT!

This TED Talk is our theme talk for this class. You will be facing many challenges that have caused students before you to simply quit. The trick is knowing how to make yourself feel powerful and capable, even when you are facing a new problem. How will you work problems if you can't walk away? Use what you know about your biology and the content, take on new pieces, shed what doesn't work, fake it, and be ready to embrace failure as an opportunity to learn. If you can't do something, remember that you just can't do it YET. Find what works for you. Nelson Mandela said "I never fail. I either win or I learn." Be one who wins or learns at all times. See everything as something that is possible. Then you will succeed--in this class and beyond.

TOP 5 TIPS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS:

Work for your mastery not for your grade.

Embrace failures as opportunities to learn. Believe in the power of YET!

Care about others, whether you know them or not.

Make sure you are in a tribe that cares about each other's successes.

Speak. Write. Communicate. Make us hear you.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THIS WILL BE YOU IN MAY!

WHAT'S YOUR MINDSET? Knowing what it is will help you figure out much more than school challenges. Awareness helps you read people, speak to them, and speak to yourself! Find out yours!

With a growth mindset, you can accomplish much more than the average bear and, even when you fail, you will not be broken, jealous, or hopeless. For more about the growth mindset and how you can get there, do a little research here or buy the book.
